NEW!

Welcome to our site dedicated to the collaboration of the Visual Arts and Technology. We endeavor to design innovative projects that promote creative self-expression and divergent thinking. The integration of the NJ Core Content Curriculum Standards are also a major consideration for the planning of the end products.

The projects here were completed by the middle school students of the Brigantine School District. All projects were taught between the Art Room and between the Artroom and the Computer Lab. We began this collaboration six years ago under the direction of Ruthann Meyer (Art Teacher) and Jessica Estlow (former Computer Teacher and now District Coordinator). Other projects were completed with Mr. John Booth, our Computer Teacher.

This is our seventh year working to provide our students in the fifth through eighth grades with opportunities to utilize technology in a creative and imaginative way fostering a sense of discovery and self-expression. By providing constructivist theory based projects, the students are asked to apply what they have learned and produce a quality end product. The students are encouraged to work independently as well as in Production Teams. The atmosphere of the classrooms is much like that of a business. Students are given ideas and the instructions to create high-end products using technology.

Our students have not disappointed us. We hope you enjoy seeing
the wonderful examples of the students' hard work. Accompanying Lesson Plans, Student Work Galleries and Handouts and Supplemental Materials as well as helpful Links and Related Sites are provided and freely shared with other educators. The addition of ARTiculation:Learning To Look At Art, a comprehensive program designed to teach art criticism has offered our parents and students a chance to explore the art making process. This program contains over 50 printable and online activities!

New this year is our piloted video production program called The VideoVantage. This program was the 2004 Grand Prize Winner of the Southern Regional ETTC Lesson Plan Contest. Click here to view some of the students'
works. Quicktime or MediaPlayer are necessary to view these movies.
