Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to the Brigantine North Middle School for the 2003-2004 school year.  I hope that you had a restful and enjoyable summer vacation.  I look forward to meeting you at our annual Open House in September and other activities throughout the year.

During the summer months, improvements have been made to the facility to further enhance the Middle School.  Several classrooms in the E-wing had carpet removed and replaced with tile floors.  Throughout the remainder of the facility all other classrooms were thoroughly cleaned and painted, if needed.  Plans are in place to purchase television monitors for all classrooms along with a TV production lab that will be used for both buildings.  Our school’s courtyard beautification project is finally completed.  This year, additional shrubs and plants were added and a new pump installed for our pond.  In the fall, bulbs will be planted as well.  These bulbs will be provided with funds tha t Ms. Steinacker received from the Lily Ponds for Youth grant.  The staff and students will continue to provide seasonal maintenance to keep the area looking great!  Craig Environmental Services, Inc. no longer tests the facility for asbestos during the summer because all asbestos has been removed from both buildings.  Finally, the master schedule has been revised to better meet the instructional needs of our students and new teachers have been hired to fill vacancies.

In order for you and your child to familiarize yourselves with the rules and procedures of the North Middle School, please take time to carefully review all of the information included in the Student and Parent Guide.  Please be sure to sign the “Discipline/Internet Use Contract” that is being sent home with this guide, and have your child return it no later than Monday, September 9, 2002.

With your cooperation and support, I know we will have a successful year.

Sincerely,

William F. Gussie, Ed.D
