To
protect children from common serious childhood illnesses, the State of New
Jersey, like other states, requires a series of immunizations for entry into
school at various levels. A child's immunization record is to be presented at
the time of school registration. It is the policy of the Brigantine Public
School District that all students enrolled in our schools at the beginning of
the school year must be in compliance with the New Jersey State Immunization
Regulations or they will be excluded from school at the end of the first day
of school. The zero day immunization grace period for new or transfer
students is instituted and enforced through exclusion from school. Exceptions
may be made as determined by the principal in consultation with the school
nurse. Implementation adheres to specific vaccine requirements as established by the
State of New Jersey.

For
a child entering Kindergarten (K), 5 DTP/DTaP/DT are recommended. A child who
has received the fourth dose after the 4th birthday will meet the
requirement. As of 9/08, to enter 6th grade (1) dose of DTaP on
or after 10th birthday; if received DTaP or Td/DT within 5 yrs. prior to
10th birthday, DTaP is to be received (5) yrs. after the prior dose. 2009
- 6th and 7th same as 9/08 for 6th grade. 2010 6th, 7th & 8th
same as 9/08 for 6th.

(1) Influenza yearly, between Sept. & Dec.

All NJ schools are required to assure
compliance & report non-compliant students to the County Health
Department & to the State Dept. of Health.
