HISTORY LESSON
In our school, our children used their art class as a starting point to learn about American history during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt via a PowerPoint presentation (see below).
The presentation focused on the turn of the century, President Roosevelt, immigration and inventions occurring in the early 1900's and of course, the TEDDY Bear.
Below is a sample of the lesson:
At the turn of the century, a new toy, known as the Teddy Bear, flooded the market. Children everywhere wanted Teddy Bears. The “Teddy” in the Teddy Bear was named after Theodore Roosevelt. Evidently, Teddy Roosevelt saved a young bear cub on one of his many hunting trips. This prompted the naming of the stuffed bear after this compassionate president.
