How to send TechnoTeddy traveling.

The second part of this project focuses on sharing these TechnoTeddy Bears with other children from around the United States and the world. This was accomplished by eliciting teachers to “play” TechnoTeddy Bear.

By playing, the teacher at the participating school receives a packet developed to allow her/him to bring the project directly into their classroom, recreate their version of a TechnoTeddy Bear and in turn, send it along to another school.

The packet includes samples of the children creations, a multicultural based PowerPoint presentation explaining the origins of the Teddy Bear and the 1900-1920’s time period of American history (now available on this Website located in the HISTORY LESSON), written content and lesson plans describing how to start their own Traveling TechnoTeddy Bear link.

From that point, the school districts playing Traveling TechnoTeddy Bears create their own version of the bear.

In turn, they share the project with more school districts.

The cyclical process is completed by having each participating school send back to the original host school (Brigantine, NJ, USA) and the sponsor school district a sample of their interpretation of the TechnoTeddy Bear. Additionally, the school's sharing should send information about their part of the world.

How to send the Bears

Once you have received your packet of information, present the lesson and begin the construction of your bear. While the TechnoTeddy Bear is being made, begin to establish links with other school districts by networking. You may want to contact other teachers you know from other districts, go online to teacher Websites (such as ProTeacher. com) or ask friends if they know of any teachers that might want to play.

After establishing two other schools that would like to participate, articulate with the receiving teachers of those schools about the project. You can refer them to this Website, or contact Teri Gragg at tlgragg@hotmail.com for more information. Everything they need, other than the actual sample, is available here online.

It is important to explain that the original TechnoTeddy Bear was a technology based art project, but that each school playing need not be limited to our format. Each school is encouraged to create TechnoTeddy their own way.

Once the groundwork has been established, your contact schools begin the process.

When each school makes their TechnoTeddy Bears, they need to make a few extras. One needs to be sent back to the original host school in Brigantine, NJ and one back to the sponsor school. When the TechnoTeddy Bear is sent home, please include information about your part of the world.

Each school participating will continue the chain established and find two more schools.

The goal of the host school (Brigantine Elementary School, Brigantine, New Jersey, USA) is for TechnoTeddy Bear to travel as far as possible by June 1, 2001.

To start your own TechnoTeddy Bear link contact Teri Gragg at tlgragg@hotmail.com for your start up package.

If you are coming to this Website on the recommendation of another teacher who is eliciting you as their link for TechnoTeddy Bears, everything you need is on this site (except the actual sample).
